Did you know that a healthy immune system can actually decrease your chances of getting sick? When it comes to staying healthy, nurturing your immune system should be a top priority. At Dawn Potter Acupuncture we are proud to offer treatments that can improve your immune system. Acupuncture is one of these treatment options. Today, we’re discussing the immune system and how acupuncture can help to improve it. If you have any questions or would like to schedule your consolation with us, feel free to reach out. About Your Immune System Your immune system is responsible for keeping your healthy and fighting against pathogens such as a cold, the flu or even corona virus. There are various things such as stress, lack of sleep, poor diet and other lifestyle choices/factors that can play a role in your immune system. Various illnesses and diseases can also have a big impact on the way your immune system functions. For most people, the only time they worry about their immune system is when they are sick, often reaching for over-the-counter medications that can ward off symptoms. There are various things that can help to improve your immune system, including acupuncture and other forms of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Eating a proper diet, exercising and getting in the sunlight can also help to improve the immune system naturally. How Acupuncture Can Help According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, the body is protected by the Wei Qi (which is pronounced way chee). Wei Qi is comparable to what we call the immune system in conventional medicine. If your Wei Qi is strong, the body can better fight off pathogens, bacteria and viruses. Various studies have shown that receiving regular acupuncture treatments can actually improve the immune system and increase the number of T cells in the body. T cells are responsible for destroying harmful invaders to the body. During acupuncture treatment, needles are used to stimulate the body into thinking a pathogen has entered the body, this signals an increase in the production of T cells and white blood cells to fight off any invaders. This increased cell response can last for several days following acupuncture treatment. • Sugar-Free, Gluten-Free, Vegan Strawberry-Banana Chia Pudding

When it comes to eating healthy, desserts are often something we skip. Typically when we think of dessert, we think of added sugars and fats the body doesn’t necessarily need. Today, we’re going to create a dessert that is packed with flavor and healthy ingredients. If you don’t like strawberries, you can easily substitute them out for blackberries, raspberries or even blueberries. Like them all? Mix it up, either way this is a tasty dessert/snack that is low on sugar and high on the fiber and protein per serving. Today, we bring to you Strawberry Banana Chia Pudding. Let us know what you think after you’ve made it! 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk 3 Tbsp chia seeds Half of a banana, thinly sliced. 6 strawberries, thinly sliced. *Can add Stevia if you prefer it sweeter, not necessary at all though. Recipe (vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free). We recommend using a mason jar (or similar container) with a lid. This will allow you to mix everything up without making a mess. Do not blend your strawberry banana chia pudding, the chia seeds need to remain whole to mimic “tapioca” often found in puddings. Let the mixture sit overnight or for at least a few hours. This can easily be made in the morning and stored in the fridge for lunch or a snack. Want to make your pudding even more creative? Cacao nibs, almonds, coconut flakes and even granola can add a whole other element to this creation. Tried something different that you loved? Let us know below in the comments. We love hearing what ideas you guys have come up with as well. Visit Dawn Potter Acupuncture in Clearwater, Florida Today Have additional questions about the importance of a healthy diet? Wish you could learn more healthy recipes from Dawn Potter?
