Red Light Therapy Clearwater, Florida


Red light therapy (aka. Low Level Light Therapy or Photobiomodulation) uses light in the visible red & invisible near-infrared (NIR) spectrum to benefit the body. While new research emerges daily about its myriad health effects, we know it can help with many of our common health concerns.


Sunlight consists of the entire spectrum of light, both visible & invisible. Ultraviolet (UV) Light wavelengths can have harmful effects on our skin, for which we should be applying sunscreen. But red & NIR wavelengths are safe; they will not tan or burn your skin. When applied in an isolated form, at therapeutic intensities, red & NIR light can have amazing health benefits. These effects were first noticed by NASA scientists and have been studied over the last 30 years.

Dawn Potter's light panels are FDA-approved Class II Medical Devices. They emit 5 wavelengths of red & NIR light: 630, 660, 810, 830 & 850nm. Each wavelength penetrates through the body tissues to a specific depth and has its own special benefits.


Is Red Light Therapy Safe?

Yes. Red light in the range of 600-1000nm allows us to enjoy many of the health benefits of sunlight, without the risks of cellular damage, such as sunburn. The main caution is to protect your eyes from the intensely bright LED bulbs. Dawn Potter provides eye protection for use during treatment. 


Those who should not receive red & NIR Light therapy, out of an abundance of caution, are those who are pregnant; or those with retinal eye disease, or who are on medications which cause photo-sensitizing of the skin.

How Do Red Light Therapy Treatments Work?

For optimal results, it is recommended to get 10-20 minutes of light on each desired treatment area, 2-4 times per week, depending on your condition and goals. Red & NIR therapy is not a quick fix. It typically requires multiple treatments for acute conditions, such as an injury or wound, and consistent ongoing treatment for 2-4 months for chronic conditions. The best results occur with consistency over time.


We offer a 22-min, full-body, Light Therapy session (in a 30-min appt time). This way, you have the option to spend the entire time on one side of your body, or you may flip over mid-way, to treat both sides. The full-body treatment provides more systemic benefits than spot treatment alone. 


It is best to have the treatment area fully exposed to the light. So, it is recommended that you undress to your undergarments, or even go nude during your session. You will be alone in the private, locked, Light Therapy room, as you recline on the treatment table under the light. 


During the session, you will feel radiant warmth and possibly mild tingling from the light. This means your body is absorbing the light and all of its benefits. Relax & Enjoy!
