Red Light Therapy (aka. Low Level Light Therapy or Photobiomodulation) uses light in the visible Red & invisible Near-Infrared (NIR) spectrum to benefit the body. While new research emerges daily about its many health effects, we know that it can help with many common health concerns.
What are the Benefits of Red Light Therapy?
Red & NIR Light helps reduce inflammation, increase circulation, benefit brain health, and boost energy production in the cellular mitochondria. This means less inflammation & pain, better energy levels, elevated yet calm mood, enhanced fertility, and improved sleep quality!

How Does Red Light Therapy Work?
Sunlight consists of the entire spectrum of light, both visible & invisible. Too much exposure to Ultraviolet (UV) Light wavelengths can have harmful effects on our skin, for which we should be applying sunscreen. But red & NIR wavelengths are safe; they will not tan or burn your skin.
When applied in an isolated form, at therapeutic intensities, red & NIR light can have amazing health benefits. These effects were first noticed by NASA scientists and have been studied over the last 30 years. Only recently is the technology advanced enough to make it more available to individuals.
Dr. Dawn Potter's light panels are FDA-approved Class II Medical Devices. They emit 5 wavelengths of red & NIR light: 630, 660, 810, 830 & 850nm. Each wavelength penetrates through the body tissues to a specific depth and has its own special benefits.
Is Red Light Therapy Safe?
Yes. Red light in the range of 600-1000nm allows us to enjoy many of the health benefits of sunlight, without the risks of cellular damage, such as sunburn. The main caution is to protect your eyes from the intensely bright LED bulbs. Dr. Dawn provides eye protection for use during treatment.
Those who should not receive red & NIR Light therapy, out of an abundance of caution, are those who are pregnant; or those with epilepsy, an implanted electronic device, malignant cancer or severe hyperpigmentation.
How do Red Light Therapy Treatments Work?
For optimal results, it is recommended to get 10-20 minutes of light on each desired treatment area, 2-4 times per week, depending on your condition and goals.
Red & NIR therapy is not a quick fix. It is a cell-level approach that typically requires multiple treatments for acute conditions, such as an injury or wound, and consistent ongoing treatment for 2-4 months for chronic conditions. The best results occur with consistency over time.
We offer a 22-minute, full-body, Red Light Therapy session (in a 30-minute appt time). This way, you have the option to spend the entire time on one side of your body, or you may flip over mid-way, to treat both sides. The full-body treatment provides more systemic benefits than spot treatment alone.
It is best to have the treatment area fully exposed to the light. So, it is recommended that you undress to your under-garments, or even go nude during your session. You will be alone in the private, lockable, Light Therapy room, as you recline on the treatment table under the light.
During the session, you will feel radiant warmth and possibly mild tingling from the light. This means your body is absorbing the light and all of its benefits. Relax & Enjoy!
